Fat Transfer Combined with Botox

The combination of Botox with fat transfer, particularly the frown lines, has led to truly outstanding results. Frown lines are significantly improved for longer and more permanent periods of time using the combination of Botox and Fat Transfer.

Fat transfer or fat grafting sometimes require several sittings spaced several months apart; however, the end results are outstanding and permanent. They can be used for traumatic defects anywhere on the chest, trunk, or extremity area, but also fat transfer can be used very successfully for frown lines, crow’s feet, and lip areas. On the other hand, Botox is a purified protein that smoothes the muscles by blocking nerve impulses. Botox weakens the muscle action in specific areas of the face and, therefore, leads to significant improvements, particularly in the forehead, frown line, and crow’s feet area.

Fat transfer and the actual individual fat cells have a higher chance of permanent results when the muscles are not being moved in the frown line; therefore, this is where Botox plays an important role in quieting down the frown line and forehead area, allowing more fat cells to survive and live resulting in better permanent results with the fat cells. Therefore, fat transfer is needed only once or twice to get the permanent result from the fat, plus Botox being used every three months leads to excellent results.

Combined Use of Restylane and Botox

Botox and Restylane have become exceptionally popular with patients in the last several years. The success rate of both of these products has proven to be excellent with minimal risk and very, very high patient satisfaction. The combination of Botox and Restylane achieve outstanding results for patients with tremendous feedback and satisfaction.

Botox and Restylane work in two different ways. Botox weakens the muscle action in specific areas of the face and, therefore, leads to significant improvements, particularly in the forehead, frown line, and crow’s feet area. Restylane is a soft tissue filler and has proven very successful for filling in soft tissue indentations throughout the face, including areas such as the frown lines, laugh lines, cheeks, lips, and any other area where augmentation of the soft tissues is beneficial. Patients have found the results of Restylane very satisfying. Botox should be repeated at three-month intervals to get the optimal result, and Restylane should be repeated every six months to get the optimal result.

Outstanding results are achieved by the combination of both of these products. In particular, the following areas can be treated, which increases the final ultimate result an additional 50% beyond the use of just Botox or Restylane alone. Areas that are best treated by the combination are:

1. Frown lines
2. Specific crow’s feet areas
3. Around the lip and laugh line areas

The combined effects of using Restylane and Botox have eliminated the need for more invasive or surgical procedures and yet can give superb results that, in many cases, mimic the results of more extensive and involved surgical procedures.

Movement of brow muscles causes the skin to crease

Skin becomes less elastic over time; repeated frowning creates lines and wrinkles between the brows (the clinical term is glabellar lines

What is Restylane?

Restylane is a safe and natural cosmetic dermal filler that restores volume and fullness to the skin to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds.\

What is Restylane made of?

A Restylane is the first cosmetic dermal filler made of non-animal-based hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance that already exists in the human body and is used to provide volume and fullness to the skin. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane is a crystal-clear gel called NASHA,™ or Non- Animal Stabilized Hyaluronic Acid. NASHA is biodegradable and fully biocompatible with human hyaluronic acid.

How is Restylane different than other hyaluronic acid-based products?

Unlike rooster-derived hyaluronic acid based products, Restylane is free from animal proteins. This quality limits any risk of animal-based disease transmission or allergic reaction. Restylane contains trace amounts of gram-positive bacterial proteins and should not be used by patients with a history of allergies to such material. Additionally, Restylane has the highest concentration of hyaluronic acid available in a dermal filler.

Is Restylane safe?

Yes. Restylane has been used by dermatologists and plastic surgeons since 1996 worldwide. There is limited risk of animalbased disease transmission or allergic reaction. Restylane is fully biocompatible and allergy testing is not required. Restylane contains trace amounts of gram-positive bacterial proteins and should not be used by patients with a history of allergies to such material. After your treatment, you might have some redness or swelling. This will normally last less than seven days. Sunbathing and cold outdoor activities should be avoided until any redness or swelling disappear. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or under 18, you shouldn't use Restylane.

Can Restylane be used anywhere on the face?

Restylane has been used in more than 1.5 million treatments in over 60 countries to correct a variety of wrinkles. In the U.S. the FDA has approved Restylane for wrinkles and folds like the ones from the nose to the corners of the mouth. Your doctor will consult with you prior to your injection regarding common treatment areas.

How long does Restylane last?

Restylane is proven to deliver long-lasting results. Studies have shown that Restylane effects generally last for about six months1. Restylane's stabilization technology helps maintain the cosmetic effect until the injected material is nearly gone.

How often should I have Restylane treatments done?

Treatments are typically scheduled twice a year. Having a touch-up treatment before the product has fully dissipated may enhance the lasting effect.

What should patients do prior to treatment?

Restylane requires no pretesting, but you should take a few precautions before being treated. Avoid using aspirin, non-steroidal anti-infl ammatory medications, St. John's Wort, or high doses of Vitamin E supplements prior to treatment, because these may increase bruising or bleeding at the injection site. Also, if you have previously suffered from facial cold sores, discuss this with your physician. He/She may consider prescribing a medication to minimize recurrence.

How is Restylane different from Botox® Cosmetic?

Restylane is a natural, cosmetic filler. In contrast, Botox Cosmetic is a drug that blocks nerve transmission and relaxes the underlying muscles. Many patients have been very pleased after receiving treatment with both products.

How is Restylane different from bovine collagen?

Bovine collagen is derived from animals (cows) and requires an allergy test. Restylane can be administered immediately—no waiting is required.

Do the injections hurt?

Restylane® is injected directly into the skin in tiny amounts by an ultrafine needle, resulting in minimal discomfort. The procedure is simple and convenient, and results are practically instantaneous. To optimize your comfort during the short procedure, your physician may anesthetize the treatment area.
